You know, sometimes I wish I had more to talk about on this blog every day instead of just how much A) school sucks B) I have nothing to do at work C) something interesting. But generally, yeah, I guess I don't. I live a pretty routine life sometimes, and this is really the best your going to get from me. Hehe. So if I get boring, well just let me know and I'll, uh, add some clowns to the site or something.
Well, I hate to say I told ya so but...I told ya so. The US is (finally) coming to the UN, asking for help in fixing Iraq. While this is clearly a good step, it doesn't alleviate the fact that we are now practically the laughing stock of the entire world, our cowboy attitude making us eat crow. Sigh...at least we are taking that step.
Meanwhile, we are getting about 10 wounded in action soldiers in Iraq every day, according to an estimate by the Washington Post. That's a whole lot of hurt soldiers. Support our troops: Bring them home.
Speaking of supporting troops, Paul Wolfowitz is mouthing off on an issue - accusations that the war in Iraq is a waste of war on terror money - that I had no idea was even an issue to begin with. Is this simply a way to rally some patriotic pride or is the administration practically clueless on where the public's questions lie (I take the former, not the latter)
Bush Was All Too Willing to Use Émigrés' Lies
Oops. There are no weapons of mass destruction after all. That's the emerging consensus of the second team of weapons sleuths commanded by the U.S. in Iraq, as reported last week in the Los Angeles Times. The 1,400-member Iraq Survey Group found what the first wave of U.S. military experts and the United Nations inspectors before them discovered — nada.
That's the opening paragraph of this op-ed by expert Robert Scheer for the LA Times. And yeah, it gets better from there. Hehe.
In a move that, while understandable because its paid for with government money, is still really slimy and dirty, it looks like Bush and company are using Sesame Street to stop anti-Americanism abroad. I don't know, just something about Elmo as a propaganda tool just feels inherently wrong.
There is a bit of good news though, out of the Bush administration. Ashcroft won't run for another political office (or so he says) after he gets done serving under Bush. We can all breathe a sigh of relief over not having the idea of a President/VP Ashcroft (the thought alone makes me shudder)
Hmmm...one Democrat in Texas has broken rank and is going back to try and solve the rezoning issue, which COULD give Republicans the votes they need. I don't want to sound conspiratorial and all but I wonder what made him change his mind to go back. Hmm...
Just when you thought Ticketmaster - the company who charges almost the cost of a ticket in service/conveince fees - couldn't get any damn worse, they do, with a plan to start auctioning off the best seats online, as opposed to letting people camp out and get them. As one person interviewed put it, the best seats will now go to band's richest fans, not their biggest. Ugh. Another nail in the music coffin.
A dangerous precedent is being set by, of all companies, Kazaa, as they force Google to take off links to Kazaa lite from certain search terms. When a company controls the majority of Net searches is suddenly forced to alter the flow of information, well that is a subtle form of mind control, wouldn't you say? Who would have thought Google would fall victim to the walled garden...
Looks like the new Survivor castaways are/were pretty hard partyers, including such "fun" stuff as meth, cocaine, acid, etc. Damn, why did it have to be the hot one :P
Finally, KFC is trying to save some money by asking people to send in their own commercials, with the promise of prizes. Oh boy, I can't wait to see what kind of fun the animal rights people will have with this one, heh.
Ok, this was a very long update. Should be enough to hold ya'll over till tomorrow, hehe.
