Well, that storm waited until today to get here. Of course. It figures that it would wait to dump all that rain on us the day that I have class, not the day I don't. Sigh...it will be a wet rest of the day, even though (luckily) its only overcast right now. At least the storm has a name - Henri. So Henri, welcome to Florida. Now get the hell out.
Another week, another terrorism warning. Maybe it's me, but despite some of us (mostly the racists) thinking that terrorist are just towel-headed camel jockies, they ARE pretty smart when it comes to attacks. So that makes me wonder why they would even consider an attack on the 2nd anniversary of 9/11 to be feasible. They aren't stupid. And even the idea of trying to scare us even more doesn't seem feasible...people will still be pretty rattled to begin with. Hmm...
Miguel Estrada has withdrawn his name from being a judicial nominee, after getting nowhere against Dems. Smart move bud, especially with the election season underway.
Speaking of which, there was a real live Democratic debate last night and it looks like the target most Democrats are going after is...ohmygod yes! President Bush! Wow! They actually DO have a backbone! I'm so excited, we are actually criticizing the President again! Granted, its coming across as nerds in a locker room making fun of the jocks when they aren't around, in a typical 'heh, heh' fashion, but still...
The big news yesterday of course though, was that the RIAA promises, cross their heart hope to die stick a needle in your eye that they won't sue you if you bow to them by deleting all your mp3s. This is insane of course, and nothing short of extortion. It's akin to a lunch room bully promising not to beat you up if you give them your money ahead of time. This cartel HAS to be stopped.
In related news, Sony is starting all over again with their own digital music program, after the apparent failure of pressplay. Expect a more Apple like approach I'm sure, even though Apple could, according to this article in Business Week, pull away from the pack decisively real soon.
I'll keep the snide comments to myself, for fear of lightning bolts while walking to class later today - VeggieTales creators go bankrupt
This on the other hand, I can make all sorts of jokes about, heh. Apparently the military doesn't have the personnel/budget to afford bugle players at funerals (you know, the people who play "Taps") so they are going to start using a digital fake sort of thing. All I hope is that they make sure it plays the right song and not, say, the soundtrack to Grease by accident...
Finally, some Friday fun for ya...The 20 Worst Movie Titles in Hollywood History. Some of them are debatable (Gleaming the Cube? Come on, that's a classic!) but for the most part, they are dead on.
Stay dry kids :P
