Three weeks in and I'm already inundated with homework. I had to crank out three papers last night (two of which I actually finished, the last I'm working on right now). Who would have thought that 3 literature classes would have so much writing?

Let's talk privacy rights. In an apparent race to impress George Orwell between the US and the UK, the UK is now winning, with a plan to implement an "e-file" on every child in the UK, under the pretext of preventing abductions.

Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, things are really heating up over the Patriot Act. Observe this handy-dandy guide book to the Patriot Act and the arguments by the DOJ that it has prevented "horrible" acts of terrorism and only made slight changes to the laws. Slight? If that's what they consider to be slight then I want to know what they think of as drastic!

The US has invited Yegor Gaidar, the man behind helping switch Russia from communist to free market, to get involved in helping to fix up Iraq. All I can say is: Awesome! I mean clearly, this is JUST the man we need over there, putting US values into an area that loves us! Oh, and don't forget the bang up job he actually did in Russia. They are in SUCH good shape now, I can't even begin to imagine hoe he could fail!

Dean and Lieberman got into it last night. I've been reading more and more that a lot of people don't think Dean stands a chance against Bush, that he is "too liberal". Well shit, and Lieberman is a good choice? The man is PRO-WAR for God's sake! I say we throw Dean up against Bush in some debates, see who comes out on top, what with the economy sinking the way it is.

Opus is back. I never read Bloom County, but I imagine that this will be one that I'll be quick to get into. I do miss Calvin & Hobbes a lot though, as the theme of this site demonstrates.

Lastly, if your a college age girl with good grades but short on money, consider moving to Windsor, Canada. A strip club there will pay your tuition for dancing, assuming you can keep your grades up. So far only 10% of the girls there have signed up, but I imagine they may get a new influx fairly soon...hey, money is money is money, after all :P
