I actually went to the Florida State/Georgia Tech game this weekend, which is a rarity for me because I tend to like watching my football at home, where my ADD self can jump from 3 (or even 4) games at once. But yeah, it was a pretty crappy game 3 quarters and 7 minutes into it, until FSU finally woke up and started playing like a top 10 team. Then it was fun - Doak Campbell was rocking and moving more than I've ever seen. That's what makes college football great I guess, the fear that any team can beat any other team, any day of the week. That's true in any sport I guess, but college football is different. It's more about heart.
Yesterday, HBO made me its slave once more, unleashing Carnivàle and K Street on the world last night. Both were excellent though I wish the previews for Carnivàle hadn't revealed almost all of the first episode. K Street on the other hand, is a political junkies dream come true. It didn't help that they featured Howard Dean either, heh.
"In the two years since law enforcement agencies gained fresh powers to help them track down and punish terrorists, police and prosecutors have increasingly turned the force of the new laws not on al-Qaida cells but on people charged with common crimes." - From this article which ran on the wires this past weekend. Good lord, we really are turning into a military state aren't we?
Turns out that, due to the right-wing media and the Bush administration, CNN censored itself during the Gulf War. I don't know what is worse - the self-censorship or the way they were practically cowed into doing it.
A smashing good editorial about how the music industry got things horribly horribly wrong and how the movie industry is getting it right. I'm not a big fan of the MPAA (what with their anti DeCSS stance and all) but the author does have a point...
And, that's about it. Go get HBO and watch K Street, heh.
